Tips & Tricks

Power user features and best practices to get the most from SEOnomer.

These tips will help you work faster and build better content strategies.

Speed Tips

Bulk Import with Auto-Classification

When importing keywords, SEOnomer automatically classifies search intent (Informational, Commercial, Transactional, Navigational) and suggests page types. Review these suggestions instead of manually setting each one.

Use Opportunity Scores

Enable "Prioritize by Opportunity" during import to automatically sort keywords by their potential (high volume + low difficulty = high opportunity). Focus on high-opportunity keywords first.

Keyboard Navigation

Use Tab and Enter to quickly move through forms. The Strategy page supports keyboard navigation for efficient editing.

Strategy Tips

The 5-20 Rule for Pillars

Aim for 5-20 child pages per pillar. Fewer than 5 may not build enough topical authority. More than 20 might indicate your pillar is too broad and should be split.

Mix Intent Types

Each pillar should have a mix of informational (top of funnel) and commercial (bottom of funnel) content. This creates a complete buyer journey within each topic cluster.

Track Existing Content

Use sitemap import to bring in your existing pages. This helps you identify content gaps and avoid creating duplicate content.

Workflow Tips

Use the Kanban Board

The Workflow page shows your content as a Kanban board. This is great for seeing bottlenecks - if too many items are stuck in "In Review", you know where to focus.

Plan Buffer Time

Schedule content with a 2-week buffer before your target publish date. This gives time for editing, review, and any unexpected delays.

Batch Similar Content

Schedule related child pages (from the same pillar) close together. Writers can research once and produce multiple related pieces efficiently.

Pro Tips

  • Export to CSV: Use CSV export to share content plans with clients or stakeholders who don't have SEOnomer access.
  • Duplicate Detection: The import system catches both exact duplicates and near-duplicates (minor spelling variations). Use this to clean up your keyword lists.
  • Custom Fields: Add custom fields in Settings to track additional metadata like assigned writers, target word count, or client notes.
  • Collapse Navigation: Use the sidebar toggle to collapse the navigation for more screen space when working on Strategy.
  • Multiple Clients: If you're an agency, create separate clients for each website you manage. This keeps strategies isolated and organized.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Creating pillars without enough child pages - Build out at least 5 child pages per pillar
  • Ignoring search intent - Make sure your content type matches user intent
  • Overloading the calendar - Be realistic about publishing capacity
  • Skipping the review stage - Quality control prevents costly rewrites later
